The Stride Center’s
technical training program includes three levels of technology training from beginning to advanced, designed to provide an entry point for individuals with varying levels of skill, while at the same time, provide sufficient training opportunities to ensure graduates are fully prepared for successful careers.  The three levels of training we offer include:

The Stride Center has developed and continuously improves a curriculum and teaching staff that responds to the unique circumstances of men and women with barriers to employment.  We deliver a successful method of training, a professional environment for learning and a proven, comprehensive learning model that helps these deserving, capable people gain jobs, self respect and financial independence.

Computer Literacy Basics
For the entry level student, The Stride Center offers a 14 week instructional program that provides participants with competence with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access,) internet fundamentals, email and basic hardware/ troubleshooting skills.  This course prepares students to earn their IC3 certification, as well as for the next level of Stride’s training, the A+ PC Technician Certification.

A+ PC Technician
The A+ course is designed for individuals who are seeking an IT career in technical support. It is recommended that before beginning the A+ training that applicants have some foundational knowledge of computer technologies and the aptitude to learn a large volume of information in a relatively short period of time. The learning objectives include two components; Hardware specifications such as motherboards, processors, hard drive technologies and memory modules, and Software specifications and operating systems such as Windows 98, NT 4.0, Windows 2000 and XP as well as Linux. There are two exams that make up the A+ Certification; 1 each for hardware and software.

Advanced Technical Certifications

IT careers demand ongoing skills refreshing and updating.  The field is rich with options for technical certifications.  The Stride Center offers a focused offering of advanced technical certifications designed to enhance graduate’s competitive position in the field.  The Stride Center offers CompTIA’s Network + certification and Microsoft’s MCDST(Microsoft Certified Desktop Support Technician) certification, both very valuable and relevant technical certifications for today’s job market.

Alumni Training
For our alumni who are working in the field and ready to improve their technical skills and earn valuable certifications, The Stride Center offers additional advanced training.  Currently, The Stride Center offers CompTIA’s Linux + certification to returning alumni.
