Q: What type of courses do you offer?
A: The Stride Center offers certification training courses designed to prepare candidates to start a career in the ICT (Information Communications Technology) industry. We offer three course levels as follows:
- A+ PC Technician Certification, Coding 99 Web App Development Fundamentals
- Network +
- Security +
- Cisco Certified Network Associate
Q: Do you offer Web Design or computer programming classes?
A: Yes! We have just launched our first ever programming course, Coding 99. For more information,call the Enrollment Team.
Q: I am brand new to computers and I have no computer experience at all.Do you teach computer basic courses?
A: No. Candidates must have some computer experience as prerequisite to enroll in our program. We will refer you to another institution that teaches beginner computer classes prior to enrolling in our courses. After you complete a beginning class, we look forward to hearing back from you!
Q: What are your entry requirements?
A: We look for dedicated and committed students who are willing to go to work in the ICT industry upon graduation. Candidates must also be able to read at a 10th grade level or above. An assessment will be issued.
Q: What is the age requirement to enroll?
A: Minimum age: 18
Q: Is there a previous educational requirement?
A: Yes. You must provide proof (Diploma or Transcripts) for: High School -or- GED -or- CHSPE -or- ATB -or- College. It must have a graduation date. Institutional transcripts are also accepted.

Q: Are the courses transferable for College credit?
A: Not at this time- we are currently articulating agreements with local colleges. We look forward to
offering college credits in the Fall of 2015
Q: What if I cannot afford the tuition?
A: Fill out an application and talk to us! We have Stride Scholarships available and may have a way to still provide training to even the most extreme cases.
Q: Do you have job placement assistance?
A: Yes. We provide individualized job placement assistance.
Q: What kind of job will I qualify for?
A: The Stride Center prepares you for entry level jobs as a PC Technician, Desktop Support Technician, Help Desk administrator or network technician. With additional training many more career options are available.
Q: How much can I expect to earn?
A: Starting pay ranges from $14 to $18 per hour for entry level work. With experience and additional training the opportunity for more pay is outstanding.
Q: Do you have an internship program?
A: Yes, The Stride Center has two social ventures which offer both paid and unpaid internships through ReliaTech in San Pablo and The Stride Contact Center in Oakland. We also work with multiple employer partners that offer a variety of internship opportunities to those who qualify. In order to interview for an internship, you will be required to maintain good grades, good attendance, and a positive attitude.
Q: Is there a dress code?
A: Yes. The dress code is business casual and strictly enforced. You are required to wear khakis or DockersTM type slacks (black, grey, or khaki-beige), dark black belt, black socks, and black business casual black shoes. You are also required to wear our Stride Center polo shirt that is included with the cost of the tuition.
Q: I am very interested! How do I enroll?
A: Apply Online Now at www.stridecenter.org. All candidates are also required to attend a New Candidate Orientation that explains in detail what courses are offered, and when they will be taught. It is a time to find out how the Stride Center can benefit you.

After attending Orientation and filling out a student application, you will be contacted by the Enrollment Coordinator or Enrollment Associate about next steps. These include providing required documentation, looking for possible funding sources, a staff interview, and finally setting up an enrollment agreement appointment at the Oakland Headquarter location.
